Gail G. Chan

Senior Researcher

Dr. Gail Chan, senior researcher, joined AIR in January 2013 and has over 25 years of experience working at the intersection of education and public health settings.

Dr. Chan currently collaborates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention and prevention programs for at-risk populations, both nationally and internationally. At this time, she is an AIR Good Behavior Game (GBG) trainer and a data collection study team coordinator for the IES funded Multi-Tiered Systems of Support in Reading study. She is also on the project management team for the Illinois Needs Assessment project as well as a task lead on the parent consent process for a transitions project -- Charting My Path for Future Success study. Her responsibilities include project management, leading and facilitating training and support for school and district staff, recruitment, development of training modules with a focus on behavior and academics as well as the establishment of high-quality, relevant, and useful products and processes related to implementation and data collection (e.g. implementation tools, consent, data entry and QC processes, focus groups, interview protocols, policy briefs, etc.)

She has previously worked as the technical assistance coordinator as well as behavioral consultant for the National Center on Intensive Intervention. In addition, she was a senior district liaison on an IES funded impact evaluation of training in multi-tiered systems of support in behavior. Other roles include project director or lead trainer on several AIR GBG projects ranging from a Headstart tribal community to elementary aged children in schools in the U.S. and internationally. Dr. Chan has also worked on organizational business development as well as mentoring staff and providing supports around professional development needs across the organization and within specific program areas.

Prior to joining AIR, she worked for Oxford Brookes University as the PM for a feasibility study involving AIR GBG. As PM, Dr. Chan oversaw the day-to-day operations and led or co-led recruitment efforts, training and delivery of coaching support, data collection and analysis, technical assistance and evaluation and dissemination activities. She also worked as a behavioral consultant for families with children with special educational needs and as an assistant director of education for children with a diagnosis of Autism in Ireland.
