Laura Checovich

Laura Checovich is a senior communications specialist at AIR. Skilled in bridging the gap between research and practice, Checovich reaches and informs stakeholders through a combination of events, documentaries, workshops, newsletters, videos, and social media. She is attentive to how the audiences reached by her work consume information and works closely with researchers and technical assistance providers to create resources that meet their clients' needs.

Checovich has implemented effective and engaging communication systems that enabled routine, ongoing assessment of client and recipient needs as well as feedback on services provided. She has managed communications for the Research on Education Strategies to Advance Recovery and Turnaround (RESTART) Network, Region 9 Comprehensive Center, What Works Clearinghouse-Statistics, Website, and Training contract, Regional Educational Laboratory (REL) Midwest, and, prior to being hired at AIR, the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). She has extensive experience working with state and local education agencies as a strategic thought partner.

Checovich is a co-creator and co-lead of AIR’s Communicators Community of Practice, a space for communications staff across divisions and program areas to share methods and strategies for communication about research and evaluation and translating knowledge for use in technical assistance. She is a certified project management professional (PMP).
